Blogging from church

A former bishop is speaking. He just used the story of nephi killing laban as an example of the holy ghost speaking to man. I expect home teaching rates and honor killing increasing dramatically this week.

About unorthodox

i live in LA, work in advertising and am the father of three kids. i'm don't belong to a political party, but i have left-leaning political views. i love the beach, loud music and video games. i grew up mormon, but haven't been a believer for the past 6 or so years. i love what the church has done for my life, and am concerned about what the church is becoming.

That story of Nephi killing Laban bothered me deeply even as a child. I just couldn’t ever buy the answers as to why it was justified. However, it’s a good starting place for deeper thoughts and discussions about whether the Mormon god is moral, a hypocrite, and so forth. And the standard “our ways are not god’s ways” just never made any sense to me and felt like a big cop out.
